Competitors in this year’s Snow Unigames and Australian University Games are being encouraged to get behind charity partner beyondblue by joining #teambeyondblue and fundraising to help tackle anxiety, depression and suicide.
CEO Georgie Harman said the organisation was thrilled to be chosen and would be on the slopes and in the West to cheer on competitors and provide information. “In any given year, around one million Australians have depression and over two million have anxiety. Almost eight people takes their lives every day in Australia,” she said. “It’s important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety and to reach out for support early. The earlier people do so, the quicker they recover.”
beyondblue ambassador Belle Brockhoff will be on mountain at this year's Snow Unigames with beyondblue staff to help raise awareness around the issues that the youth of today can face.
