Freestyle will be contested on the picturesque slopes of Mt Buller, VIC. 2018 Nationals Snow will offer four disciplines for freestyle: Skier cross, Rails, Moguls and Slopestyle.
Skiercross courses features big-air jumps and high-banked turns. Unlike the alpine skiing disciplines there is more than one skier racing down the course. Any intentional contact with other competitors leads to disqualification. In a time trial or qualification round, every competitor skis down the course, which is built to encompass both naturally occurring terrain and artificial features like jumps, rollers or banks. After the time trial, the fastest 32 skiers (fastest 16 if not 32 competitors) compete in a knockout series in rounds of four.
Slopestyle will be run on the slopes of Mt Buller. Athletes will compete on a course that includes a variety of obstacles including rails, jumps and other terrain park features. Points are scored for amplitude, originality and quality of tricks.
Start lists for Slopestyle will be available online a week prior to the event.
