Snowboarding will be contested on the picturesque slopes of Thredbo, NSW. Snow Unigames 2017, will offer five disciplines for snowboarding: Boarder Cross, Rails, Slopestyle, Super G and Giant Slalom.
Boardercross is a snowboard competition in which four to six athletes race down a set course. The Mt Buller course is quite narrow and includes cambered turns, various types of jumps, berms, rollers, drops, steep and flat sections designed to challenge riders' ability to stay in control while maintaining maximum speed. Competition format at Snow Unigames 2016, will be a time trial or knock-out rounds.
Start lists for boarder cross will be available online a week prior to the event.
Slopestyle will be run on the slopes of Mt Buller. Athletes will compete on a course that includes a variety of obstacles including rails, jumps and other terrain park features. Points are scored for amplitude, originality and quality of tricks.
Start lists for Slopestyle will be available online a week prior to the event.
Giant Slalom will be run the same as Slalom. Each athlete completes two runs on the same day on different courses. It is a technical event with a longer course and fewer gates than the slalom. The number of gates is determined by the vertical drop of the course.
